Yesterday I launched a new site. Â It is kind of an experiment, but I think it will take off. Â As my wife, is a wedding photographer, I have been immersed in all things wedding. Â So I though to myself, why not have a place on the web where couples can go to find everything they need for planning a wedding in Kelowna. Â So I started an online wedding directory to do just that, showcase all of Kelowna’s wedding professionals. If you know of anyone that is a wedding professional, let them know about the site. They can list their business for FREE.
I know, I haven’t posted for a while. I’ve been busy. Â The sun has come out and the kids are on spring break, so I have been catching some rays while watching the kids ride their bikes.
I just couldn’t resist posting this picture.

Descriptive, dynamic titles! A dynamic name for every page on your blog.
Now this may sound difficult but it’s really easy.
When Google, Yahoo or other search engines return results, they provide the title and a short description of the site they are linking to. These are easy to see becuase, they are Bold and in Blue (see below).
The title comes from the actual <title> tag for your post. In an ideal world the title on each page would contain both to title of the post and the name of the site.
There are two way to make this happen:
#2 is the obvious choice. So how do we make this happen?
If you use WordPress, this is extremely easy to do.
All you have to do is add one line of PHP between the <title> tags in your theme’s header.php file.
<title>
<?php
   if (is_single() || is_page() || is_archive()) {
       wp_title('',true);
   } else {
       bloginfo('description');
   }
?>
</title>
When you check your site you will notice that the home page will be the name and tagline of your blog (these can be set in your settings section of your WordPress administration panel).
On the other pages of your title will be based on the title of your post and will include the name of your site.
If you have ever wanted to have a Samurai sword, but wondered what you would do with it, you might like this.
It looks like a samurai sword, but acts as a warrior. Take a look.
Yesterday Simone needed to meet a client about a wedding. This was not your ordinary meeting, as it took place in a little place called Naramata. So we decided to make it a family road trip. We hit the road in the afternoon and made our way 1 and a half hours south. We had a good time, we are blessed with amazing travelers. Along the way we came across some wildlife on the road. Here are a couple of pics from the road trip and the wildlife we ran across.
Okay so that’s not the only wildlife we found.
We saw these deer just crossing the street in the middle of Penticton. The girls saw that there were three of them and quickly named them Journee, Asia and Mykah.
When this guy came walking out, Journee said we can call that one Levi. Now all our kids had equivalent in deer.
I have to admit, that I am still amazed when I see wildlife, especially when it’s in the middle of a city, or more realistically for Penticton, a town.
Last I talked about the idea behind links being a kind of coolness factor and about the number of links you might need to get to the top. This week we will talk about where and how to get the links needed to climb the Google ladder.
There are 4 types of links out there:
There are a few different was yo can get links to your site.
If you want to add your name to 300 directories you can do so by heading over to ADDURL.nu. Or for a small fee I will do the tedious work of adding your info to these sites for you.
It is generally a good thing to be listed in directories. And there are 2 that you absolutely should be included in and 1 that if you can afford it should be listed in.
It is generally held that you should get listed in these directories. Zoominfo and DMOZ are free and will take a long time to get listed, but they are important so get listed. If you have $299US per year to spend then get listed in the Yahoo directory.
