Yesterday I took the girls swimming to the local aquatic center. And like any father with tree girls I went into the family change room, the last thing I need is for my girls to see a bunch of naked old guys. The is where the frustration begins.

Who do you expect to be in a family change rooms? Families right! Well it seems that to some people the family change room means that it is a place for single men, women, boys and girls to use. Come on people what part of family do you not understand. Family means, at least,  one adult and one or more kids or a handicapped person.

So were waiting for an open stall, and final a couple become available.  Out of these occupies stalls walk young men, 15+ in age, and you guessed it one out of each stall. I guess they were illiterate and blind, because the change room is clearly marked.

i understand. i have a queston to you tho. do you think if a teen couple. ( 16 years of age or so) were to go in a family room and use a stall together. is there something wrong with that? and would they get in trouble.?. this was brought to my attention and i find it interesting. plz reply

@ Brady, Yes I do think that there is something wrong with that, first of all it is a family change room, not a couples change room. As for would they get in trouble, I would hope so. There is no need for a 16 year old couple to be in a change room together.

@ Brady- I didn’t fly off the handle I was just stating my opinion, which you asked for.
What we need to remember is that there are kids in this change room and that is not something I would want my 4 kids to see.
What are your thoughts on the situation?

Well i agree that there are certain things u dont want your 4 kids to see. but then again nobody ever said there would be anything. to them there are two young adults walking into a room wearing one thing and comming out wearing another ready to swim. i can understand if maybe this couple was doing something in the stall ( sexual) how ever i beleive that it is a change room and as long as thats the only thing that is happening there ( execpt for the case of single men and/or women ) then there shouldnt be a problem with it. the couple just needs to take the responsiblility to understand the fact that there are impressionable minds near by and that they need to mind thier actions . any thoughts?

@Brady- I can understand what you are saying, but kids are smarter than most people give them credit for. Whether the couple is doing stuff that is sexual or not, there is no need for them to be in a family change room. That’s the whole point, it’s for families.
I think that a couple can go into their respective gender specific change rooms and get changed. They can be apart from each other for a couple minutes.

i think the part that bothers me is that there is nothing saying that 2 16 year olds can’t. its not against the law. they cant be charged and they cant be asked to leave. i guess what im asking is. should it be against the law?

    • themisfit wrote on April 24, 2009 at 8:03 //

there is no law against it, but common sense says that a family change room is for “FAMILIES.” End of story. People should be courteous to that fact. Men don’t use women’s washrooms, although there is no law against that. This is the same thing.

I am a male 20+, I do not want to change dress in male change room as I do not like to get naked in front of everyone and I also do not like to see all the old naked guys and my gym male change room does not have any private cubicle inside. So is it very nonsense going to the family change room for using the cubicle??
